There were things I loved about Twitter. I found my people on Twitter. I stopped feeling alone with the people I found there. But it was a time suck, sometimes toxic, and did little to promote me as a writer. I mourn what is lost with the changes that have happened there.

I'm trying to do better with IG and taking FB off of my phone was a game changer.

Good piece!

Thank you Sarah! The positive thing is that the people I've met there I'll keep in touch with elsewhere, but there was a special feeling to the place that seems gone now.

Same. There are some important voices that I'm now following on IG and I'm hoping some of them move here for longer form content as well.

“I watched that this weekend, about an out-of-context quote from a paywalled interview that 99.9% of the people reacting to hadn’t even read beyond the headline.”

This is (so far) what sets Substack apart for me... it’s (for now, seemingly) a community of people who actually read the articles.

I liked that it feels... slower... like the rush isn’t to be the first person to react.

I get that... I even waited a bit to hit the like button. :) Anyway, great post, thank you.
